Don't forget about the hurricane victims.

PANAMA CITY, Fla. — A family can begin to grieve after officials confirmed Friday the death of a 79-year-old Florida woman who had been missing since Hurricane Michael left her Mexico Beach home in rubble.

Here is the link for more about that.

You don't know what you are going to face or what your situation is going to be.  I never guessed that I would be caring for an aging parent - especially not for so many years - and I could not have imagined how emotionally difficult and consuming it could be.  Caring for a parent is not a bad thing.  The thing that is difficult is trying to do things to help when there are no solutions.  I can provide necessities.  I can try to entertain and make things comfortable, but I can not improve their state of mind.  I hate to see it but can do nothing about it.  I try my best, but things are headed in the same direction and at the same speed.  I can't do a thing about it, no matter how hard I try.  As much as they try to cover it up and deny it, even with their failing abilities on some deeper level they realize it too.  You want to be able to have reasonable conversations and discuss things, but that is futile and only leads to frustration.  As much as I want to provide some level of contentment, everything fails. I never guessed that I would be in that spot.  I had no idea.

There is nothing new on the hurricane map.  At least it is not so hot.

The surf will be only two or three feet for a few days.

Happy hunting,

4/30/18 Report - Odyssey Marine Filing For Ownership of SS Mantola. Cookout Big Success. 1715 Fleet Artifacts In Auction.

Written by the TreasureGuide for the exclusive use of treasurebeachesreport.blogspot.com.

A US marine salvage company that discovered a sunken World War I ship years ago wants to be named owner of the vessel — and the nearly 19 tons of silver bars worth millions of dollars that went down with the ship.

Odyssey Marine Exploration Inc. contends in a new Manhattan lawsuit it used “sophisticated sonar equipment” in 2011 to locate the SS Mantola -- a 450-foot British flagged steamer torpedoed by a German submarine in 1917 as it sailed from London to Calcutta...

The company estimates 536,000 ounces of silver could be on board the ship. Under a 2011 salvage agreement with the UK government, Odyssey was to keep 80 percent of the cargo.

However, that agreement lapsed in September 2015 and the government no longer makes such deals, the suit says. Odyssey is staking its claim for ownership...

By all reports, everybody had a great time at the Treasure Hunter's Cookout Saturday.  SuperRick had the following to say

Yesterday, My wife and I got to go to the treasure hunter's cookout.  I missed it last year by a few days. When I saw your post on it this year I wasn't going to miss it! The one thing I love about your blog is that you put out a lot of good information that anybody that wants to hunt the beaches can use! Of course, the one person that I wanted to meet was not there so I could personally thank him for all of the great work that he does on your Blog.

But I did get to meet Terry Shannon and Ed Huffman along with the owners of Booty Salvage with so many others that I can't remember all of their names. The food was great and so was all of those that were there. I know that next year I won't have any problem getting my wife to go there again!

It's been an interesting three months here in Fla. hunting the beaches in south Fla. I never even hunted the treasure beaches because the conditions were not right. The one thing that I've learned from your Blog is that you don't want to waste your time if the conditions are not right!

The funny thing was that I met the owners of Booty Salvage the last time I was in Fla. at Turtle trail park and he remembered me from our meeting!

We are leaving to head back to Vegas on Tuesday so until the next time I hope that you find many treasures whatever they may be!

Thanks again
Rick

If you want to know what kind of things you might find on the Treasure Coast if you are real lucky, you can see a number of 1715 Fleet artifacts that are listed in the current Sedwick auction.  They begin with lot number 1599 and extend through lot number 1616.  The series begins with a small section of a gold olive blossom chain, a silver coat-of-arms seal and a gold leaf snuff box.  Also included are several emeralds and other artifacts.

SpaceX launches rockets and can now land them so they are reusable.  They can land them on land or on a barge at sea.

One fellow told me that he is planning a big experiment.  He'll mark items and ask people to report where and when they find them.

The treasure Treasure Coast salvage season is ramping up and will get into high speed before long.

The biggest surf we'll see in the next several days is a three - five foot surf that is predicted for Tuesday through Thursday.

Happy hunting,

11/8/13 Report - 1715 Fleet Gold Found on Treasure Coast, Silver Too.

Written by the TreasureGuide for the exclusive use of treasurebeachesreport.blogspot.com.

I told you about one small area on a Treasure Coast beach that produced a number of small reales this week.  I showed one of those cobs the other day, here is another from the same area but a day later

This is obviously also a half reale bearing a Philip monogram.  It is similar to the one previously shown that had a P assayer mark.  This one was certainly not produced with the same die though.  It is different in several respects although similar in others.  This one is about the same size and weight as the previous one.

One thing different about this one that makes me curious is the big round circle just to the right of the middle of the S.  You can see that in the photo.  This one, like the previous one that I showed, seems to have a pomegranate of something between and below the P and S.   Just another example of some things that have been found this week.

The bigger news is that gold has been found this week.  One piece that I have not been able to personally verify but have heard of is an 8 escudo.   Maybe I'll get a photo of that one.

A good section of a gold olive blossom chain was found by another person.

I think this week turned out even better than when Sandy passed by.

Below is a short video of a Treasure Coast beach near low tide this morning.  Note the surf.  It was fairly calm.  The sand up in front of the cut was mushy, but not so mushy down by the water.

Another Treasure Coast Beach Shortly After Low Tide This Morning.

On the second beach note the sea weed.  The cut was created a few days ago and then filled some since then.

Amazing how much difference a little sand makes.  One beach that was producing day after day shut off after a little sand came in.  Of course the erosion had basically stopped then too.

This morning the wind was calm and the surf was fairly calm too, especially when compared to earlier this week, but it began to pick up around 10 or 11 AM this morning.  Maybe we'll get some more cutting.  The surf is supposed to be up to 7 feet tomorrow.  If the predictions are correct, it will then gradually subside down to about 2 feet by Wednesday and then jump up to about 8 feet Thursday.   From the looks of things, there is a good possibility I'll be increasing the rating on my Treasure Coast beach conditions scale again soon.

That is very encouraging.  Maybe we'll get something like a repeat of earlier this week.

The above surf chart is from MagicSeaWeed.com which you can access from the link on the main page of this blog.

The strongest storm on record with wind gusts up to 235 miles an hour hit the Philippines.  That is sad.  That will cause some real damage.
