This is the same find that I posted a couple of weeks ago, but I have new information about the frame from Laura Strolia, researcher and author the of book, Marigalara of the 1715 Fleet.

Laura sent me an email containing the following information.

The objects on the bottom of the frame are eagles, shown as tetramorphic symbols for St. John the Evangelist.

Inside the frame would have been a retablo (devotional painting), likely of St. John the Evangelist. It could have also contained a painting depicting the Ascension of Christ, as the eagle represented this Holy Event.

The following link shows a Spanish Colonial retablo of St. John the Evangelist that was painted on tin.
It measured 12"(H) x 8.25"(W).

Thanks much Laura!  I can't wait to get a look at your upcoming book whenever it is ready.

In the recent past I posted a few articles about a Russian shipwreck supposedly containing huge amounts of gold.  The amount of gold seemed to change every time I saw a new article.  Well, now it seems that it that the whole thing might have been part of a fraud.

Here is what Popular Mechanics had to say about it.

A South Korean company that announced it had found more than a hundred billion dollars in gold treasure in a Russian warship is under investigation for possible fraud. The gold apparently does not exist and the company allegedly planned to use news of the treasure to boost a new cryptocurrency...

Here is the link for the rest of the article.

There is one disturbance in the Atlantic, but it is already far east and north of us, so of no interest.

The tides are big even though the surf is very small.   Both good high and low tides.

Happy hunting,
